MICHAELCO is a staging and design company that has a focus on real estate in the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, South End, South Boston and Fenway neighborhoods of Boston.
Founder Michael O’Brien has been designing for Boston residents with the most discerning tastes since 19… (well, for sometime now). He once owned M K Design and Michael and Company, Inc., both were special event floral design studios located in Newton; the two combined for a total of twenty one years. He made a guest appearance as a special events designer at Boston’s premier florist Winston’s Flowers, for five years and has been staging homes for over ten years. He is also a real estate salesperson in South Boston.
The crew at MICHAELCO bring years of knowledge, talent, and experience from the creative fields of graphic design, event planning, and floral design. We also have artists, real estate professionals, and the all important support of a highly curated inventory of home furnishings. Once we have final decisions we then list the brands, types, finishes, and the paint colors we recommend for the project. This list will be submitted to the painting contractor for reference. We can be the contact to answer questions and/or oversee the job from that point forward if you so wish.

This is the master suite in a newly renovated triplex condo in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. This Unit has all the bells and whistles
and then some: three levels of living, three bedrooms, three and a half baths, master suite, four decks, two deeded garage parking spots in an elevator building.
This home needed a facelift; the unit had been occupied by tenants that gave it a beating. The wall colors and fixtures needed updating. We decided on new paint colors, hired cleaners, contractors, and replaced fixtures. We also staged it and represented the seller for sale.
This stunning home had great bones and some perfect furnishings. We purged some, rearranged and added our own furniture, artwork, accessories, plants and flowers to make it all picture perfect for photographs.
The kitchen in this condo in a historic home was in need of some updating before it could go on the market for sale. The space was gutted and we worked with the owners every step of the way with the design, floor plan and color palette. We assisted them with the fixture, appliance, countertops, lighting and furniture purchases. We then staged the kitchen and had it photographed.
The developer was not pleased with the mirrors and lighting that she chose for the master bath at her latest project. Her real estate agent agreed and was also opposed to the weathered teal vanity. We supplied new colors, mirrors, light fixtures, and then staged the home. This four level, four bedroom, four bath home sold for full asking price at the first open house.
We chose a whole home color palette and finishes, replaced lighting, ceiling fan, cabinet knobs, medicine cabinets faucets and mirrors in this duplex, two bedroom condo in South Boston. We were hired by the seller's real estate agent to bring about a dramatic change to a unit that was outdated and had been rented for years
before listing it for sale.
